Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

- 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NIV)

Regardless of your circumstances, there is always a reason to give thanks to the Lord.

However, especially on bad days, even though we try to give thanks, we don’t always feel thankful in our hearts. When this happens and being thankful seems like a struggle, we need to remind ourselves of who God is.

Remember that:

  • God is the author of your life.
  • He is your provider.
  • He is your refuge.
  • He is your strength.
  • He is your shield.
  • He is your shepherd.
  • He is your peace.
  • He is your deliverer.
  • He is your savior.

In addition, remember what He did for you on the cross and how you are being transformed from the inside out!

When you resist the urge to complain and grumble and give thanks instead, it opens up your heart to receive the Lord’s peace and joy even in the midst of difficult circumstances.

Today, choose to give thanks despite what you see. Remember who God is and what He has done for you. Remember that even through rough times, He promises to walk you through it and sustain you! Give thanks and receive His peace and joy today!

“Lord, thank you for Who you are and all that you’ve done for me! Even during hard times, You are faithful and true to your word. As your child, help me to have a thankful heart even in the midst of struggles, and open my heart to receive your peace and joy!”

With Love,
Paper Sunday
