Daily Devotional • John 16:22

Therefore you now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you.

- John 16:22

In times of sorrow, it can be hard to convince ourselves things will get better.

Sadness tends to breed itself, stringing us along in a cycle of oppression.

However, this is a lie from the enemy!

We all have infinite joy to look forward to, secured by what Jesus did for us on the cross.

This is something nothing and no one can take away from you.

Whenever you are feeling sad, anticipate being happy again. This helps remove the sting and bitterness of the pain because it reminds you it is only temporary.

Life will always have its trials, but pain can indeed serve a higher purpose. The suffering we endure in this life forces us to turn to the Lord and rely on Him, refining us spiritually.

The sorrow and pain you face will never be wasted.

God can turn what the enemy meant for evil into good. He can turn what the devil has ruined into something beautiful.

Keep your eyes on the promises of the Lord and the eternal joy that awaits you in heaven.

Even now, you can use the opportunities when you are sorrowful to grow in your relationship with God. In His presence, there is fullness of joy!

With Love,
Paper Sunday

Thanks to The Lord for all of his precious promises and the encouragement of His living Word which sustains me. I am recently widowed and am grieving the loss of my husband Phil. I miss him very much.
