So the other disciples told him, "We have seen the Lord." But he said to them, "Unless I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and place my finger into the mark of the nails, and place my hand into his side, I will never believe."  - John 20:25

But, God, I still doubt.

God does not condemn us for questioning or doubting.

He understands our brokenness and our needs.

To better understand, let's look at one of Christ's disciples, Thomas. Or, as some call him, doubting Thomas.

Thomas knew Jesus well. Not only was Thomas Jesus' disciple, but he was also His friend. Thomas followed, served alongside, and believed in Christ.

However, when Christ was crucified and rose again, Thomas doubted.

Even though Jesus told Thomas before He died that He was going to prepare a place for them and would come again, Thomas didn't believe Jesus' resurrection was real.

When Jesus was crucified, Thomas was filled with fear. Even when others said they had seen Jesus resurrected, Thomas still doubted.

So what did Jesus do? Jesus did not scold Thomas or belittle him for his lack of faith.

Instead, He appeared directly to Thomas, encouraging him.

The Bible tells us that He increased Thomas' belief!

His desire for you today is the same. Whatever has caused you to doubt or fall away, Jesus is trustworthy. He says to you, look at my hands and side. John 10:10 says the thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. So likewise, Jesus desires to give you abundant life in Him.

Prayer: Thank you, Jesus, for encouraging me when I doubt. Thank you for giving me life in and through you. Amen.

With Love,
Sarah Sherstad

I loss my husband five months ago, I have never doubted who the Father is but I have questioned to Him why. He gave me such a good mAn , father and friend. It has been overwhelming.
I am of the flesh, so I am weak but my hope is in Him.
So grateful He understands and holds me.
These devotionals always encourage me and seem to come with with His words at just the right time♥️ Bless
