God’s word is a lamp unto your feet and a light unto your path.

Have you ever gotten up in the middle of the night and stubbed your toe on something you couldn’t see?

Darkness masks and hides what the light illuminates.

The Psalms tell us that God’s Word is a lamp to our feet.

As we study God’s Word, we gain understanding about how God wants us to live.

Understanding gives us direction as to what choices we should make and the way “or path” we should go.

At the time the Psalm was written, “a lamp” was actually a candle placed inside a lantern which people carried for light. Therefore, it wasn’t very bright. However, it lit the steps right in front of the person.

Many times, we may not know the path we should take or what God wants us to do.

However, if we walk in faith and take the next best step, He will give us guidance and direct the way.

Today: Remember today to trust God with the next step and know that God’s word provides you with wisdom and instruction to light your path.
