Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.  -John 14:13-14

What does it mean to pray in Jesus' name?

To pray in Jesus' name is a privilege and an honor. It isn't something we put on the end of our prayer to finish it all neat and tidy. It means that we are praying the way Jesus would.

Does that change your perspective? I know it did mine!

Since God is holy and we are sinful, the only way we can gain access to Him is through His Son, Jesus. Because Christ paid the penalty for our sins, we can be restored to a relationship with God when we accept Christ's free gift of salvation.

When we come to God, Jesus actually intercedes on our behalf! How amazing is that? We are considered heirs to His throne and called His children.

Therefore, we can come to Him with assurance and confidence that not only does He hear us, but He loves us immensely.

So today, when you pray, ask yourself, is your request something that Jesus would want for you?

It might motivate you to change the way you pray!

Prayer: Lord, it goes against my natural self to put your will above my own. Please be with me as I pray, helping me to keep you first. Help my thoughts and prayers to align with yours. Amen.

With Love,
Sherry Shepherd

What about when you simply can’t pray except to utter His name? I am so mired in grief from the loss of my precious grandson Friday morning. Found dead by his roommate. We are so heartbroken…he was the first grandchild. His mother is breaking my heart too, as her grief is overwhelming
