Daily Devotional • Matthew 7:7-11

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.  Or what man is there among you who, when his son asks for a loaf, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!  - Matthew 7:7-11

- Matthew 7:7-11

It’s beautiful that God has given us a way to connect with Him through prayer. And He really does hear us and answer!

We learn God’s model for how to pray in Matthew 6. First, we begin with praise to God, then we ask for His kingdom and purpose here on earth.

Next, is the part we most often think of when we think of praying—asking for what we need. God cares very much about what you need!

He knows your body needs food, you must have shelter, and you need a job. He tells us to ask for these things in the next verse…” Give us today our daily bread.”

Asking God for our daily bread is a reminder that He is the Provider of every single thing, every single day.

He may not give you as much as you want, but He takes care of what you need for today.

Tomorrow, He will take care of those needs when it’s time. We are completely dependent on the God who meets our every need.

What do you need from God today? Do you have a need that seems overwhelming and impossible? God specializes in the seemingly impossible!

But always remember, God knows what is the very best for your life. If He does not give you something you ask for, it is because He knows better. He loves to give His children good gifts.

TODAY:  Write down your requests. Pray about each item. Maybe you sense God speaking to you? Write that down too!

With Love,
Kristi Briggs

Beautiful devotional! As I celebrate another trip around the sun I want to FIRST thank God for allowing me another year of life. Although the circumstances of this birthday is not ideal, I am truly grateful! Thank you Lord for sustaining me. I ask for wisdom in YOU first and health to live another 40 years.
